Stag
The "Stag" by Westside Golf Discs establishes itself as a versatile fairway driver with Speed 8, Glide 6, Turn -1, and Fade 2. As an overstable fairway driver, this disc covers the spectrum between controlled distance throws and precise fairway shots. Particularly in VIP, Tournament, and Tournament Burst plastics, the "Stag" shines across various playing scenarios. The disc primarily targets intermediate players but also offers an accessible entry point for beginners and advanced throwers into faster fairway drivers. In practice, the flight of the "Stag" is noticeably straighter than the flight numbers suggest. Instead of pronounced turn, the disc maintains a nearly neutral path with minimal drift over long distances before a moderate fade kicks in at the end of the flight phase. The high Glide rating of 6 noticeably contributes to distance performance, enabling throws around 90 meters even without maximum arm speed. The VIP-X Chameleon variant leans slightly more understable, exhibiting flight characteristics closer to 8/6/-3/1, while Tournament plastic remains more stable. This variability between plastic types allows for targeted adjustments to different throwing techniques and wind conditions. For forehand throws, the "Stag" delivers reliable, straight lines with a controlled finish. Backhand throws benefit from the combination of straight flight and gentle fade for precise landing zones. The disc performs well on flat hyzer releases as well as slight anhyzers for extended turnover lines. For beginners, it provides a smooth transition to higher speeds, while experienced players appreciate the "Stag" for technical tunnel shots and controlled distance throws. Even after years of heavy use, the disc remains stable and reliably retains its flight characteristics.
