The "Huia" by RPM Discs serves as a reliable fairway driver for controlled throws with precise straight flight and predictable fade. With a speed of 7, it bridges the gap between technical midranges and fast distance drivers, making it especially suitable for tight fairways and approach situations where distance must be paired with control. Its overstable nature makes it a solid tool in the wind, while the high glide of 5 ensures ample flight time. In preferred plastics like Atomic, Cosmic, and RPM Glow, it consistently delivers stable flight performance, proving particularly accessible for intermediate-level players. In the air, the disc maintains a straight path with minimal turn and finishes with a moderate fade of 2, reliably pulling left. The overstability is more pronounced than in classic all-around fairways like the Teebird—even when thrown on anhyzer angles, it quickly fights back to a hyzer line. In headwinds, the flight remains stable without uncontrolled drifting. The combination of speed 7 and turn 0 allows for a consistently predictable flight that doesn’t suddenly destabilize even with varying arm speeds. Some throwers describe its stability as more pronounced compared to an Explorer, placing it closer to utility-oriented fairways. For intermediate players, the "Huia" works as a dependable primary fairway driver, enabling straight lines with a gentle finish. Advanced players use it strategically for hyzer lines and controlled distance throws under 100 meters, where precision takes priority over maximum distance. Beginners with basic throwing technique benefit from its forgiveness on slight off-axis torque but should have sufficient arm speed for a full flight. On forehand throws, the disc also performs stably without unexpected flipping, making it a versatile slot-filler in the bag.
