Understable

The **FX-4** from Prodigy is a 9-speed fairway driver designed for controlled distance throws with moderate turnover tendencies. Its understable nature makes it ideal for beginners looking for their first faster driver, as well as advanced players aiming for precise anhyzer lines. Compared to classic 9-speed fairways like the Valkyrie, it offers slightly more glide with a gentler fade, enabling longer, straighter flight paths. In 400 and 500 plastics, the disc provides a balanced mix of grip and durability, though older runs tend to be stiffer, resulting in less turn. In flight, the **FX-4** delivers a smooth, pushing trajectory with controlled turn and mild fade. The combination of Speed 9, Glide 5, Turn -2, and Fade 1 creates a line that drifts right at moderate arm speed before gently fading back without a hard finish. When thrown flat, it holds a stable path with a slight rightward curve, while a hyzer release allows for a reliable flip-up into a straight flight. Stiffer plastic variants noticeably reduce turn, keeping the disc more stable on stronger throws and delaying turnover. For beginners, the **FX-4** serves as an excellent first fairway driver, delivering controllable distance even with less power and avoiding immediate frustration. Advanced players use it strategically for long anhyzer lines, where the disc turns right throughout most of its flight before making a slight correction at the end. It also excels in tunnel shots with a straight finish or as a tailwind driver for maximum distance. Forehand throwers benefit from its glide and moderate fade, while backhand players can fully utilize its turnover potential.
