The "FX-3" by Prodigy Disc bridges the gap between classic speed 7 fairway drivers and faster distance drivers as a speed 9 fairway driver. With its straight flight path and controllable stability, it's ideal for precise fairway throws between 90 and 110 meters where neither extreme fade nor unpredictable turn is desired. The 400-series plastic provides a grippy hand feel and durable flight characteristics, while the 500-series variant offers extra durability for intensive use. Compared to the Innova Thunderbird, the "FX-3" exhibits a slightly straighter trajectory with less finish fade, making it an alternative for players seeking more forward-pushing flight at similar speeds. In flight, the "FX-3" combines speed 9, glide 4, and turn -1.5 for a neutral to slightly overstable flight characteristic. On backhand throws at flat release angles, it flies nearly straight with minimal mid-flight turn before a moderate fade of 2 ensures a reliable finish. The disc holds its release angle precisely, allowing controlled anhyzer lines as well as gentle hyzer releases. At higher arm speeds, it shows subtle rightward movement without ever becoming uncontrollably flippy. Even on forehand throws, the "FX-3" remains stable, delivering repeatable flight paths without unexpected torque reactions. For intermediate players with moderate arm speeds, the "FX-3" serves as a versatile workhorse on tight fairways and tunnel shots. Advanced throwers use it for precise hyzer flips and controlled turnovers, while the disc remains dependable in windy conditions. Its combination of straight flight and predictable fade makes it a solid choice for players seeking a workable fairway driver between classic Teebirds and faster distance discs.
