Clutch
# Legacy Clutch The Legacy Clutch serves as a versatile putter for putting, approach shots, and short drives. With a speed of 2 and glide of 3, it covers the classic range of an all-around putter, suitable for precise basket shots as well as controlled approaches up to about 50 meters. The disc is available in Protege, Gravity, Icon, and Excel plastics, with Icon and Excel preferred for approach shots, while Protege and Gravity excel in putting. Accessible to both beginners and advanced players alike, it provides a stable foundation without demanding excessive arm speed. In flight, the Clutch exhibits a straight to slightly overstable trajectory. A turn of 0 ensures it holds a straight line, while a fade of 1 results in a gentle, predictable finish. Stability varies slightly depending on the plastic: Icon versions tend to be more overstable, while Protege models fly a bit more neutral. Spin putts benefit from its direct, low-floating flight characteristic, minimizing drift and keeping the disc on target toward the basket. Compared to the Discraft Magnet, the Clutch is slightly more stable, making it more reliable in windy conditions. For hyzer putts and straight approach shots at short to mid-range distances, the Clutch is a solid choice. It holds anhyzer lines only with moderate power but returns predictably. Forehand approaches work well, as the disc doesn’t turn uncontrollably. Spin-based backhand putts deliver consistent results, while push putts benefit from its moderate glide. Beginners appreciate its forgiveness and low learning curve, while advanced players rely on it as a dependable workhorse putter for various throwing styles and distances within 60 meters.
