River
The Latitude 64 "River" is a versatile fairway driver with a speed of 7 and an exceptionally high glide rating of 7. This combination effortlessly generates distance without requiring aggressive arm speed, making it a reliable choice for controlled fairway shots between 80 and 110 meters. Its slightly understable nature allows for precise lines with moderate effort, while Opto and Gold Line plastics offer subtle stability variations—Opto tends to be more resistant, while Gold Line leans toward gentle turnovers. As an entry-level disc in the driver category, the River excels with its forgiving nature, delivering stable flight paths even with suboptimal technique. In flight, the River showcases its signature curve through a combination of -1 turn and 1 fade. After release, it drifts controllably to the right (for right-handed backhand throws), maintains this line for most of the flight, and gently fades back to center. The high glide rating noticeably extends hang time, effectively compensating for lower throwing speeds. With a hyzer release, the disc works its way up to neutral flight paths, while flat releases produce smooth turnover lines. More powerful throwers can use the River for sustained anhyzer curves or precise shaping in tight gaps, as the disc remains predictable even with increased power. For beginners, the River serves as a dependable first driver, enabling straight throws without requiring advanced techniques. Advanced players utilize it strategically for turnover shots, hyzer flips, and precise approaches within the 90-meter range. Forehand throws benefit from the stability of Opto plastic, while Gold Line suits backhand-dominant styles. With its moderate speed requirement, the River remains controllable even when fatigued or in winds under 15 km/h, covering everything from straight fairway drives to finesse approaches.
