Mace
The "Mace" by Latitude 64 serves as a versatile midrange for controlled distances and reliable approaches. With a speed of 5, it covers the classic midrange spectrum and is suitable for both precise fairway throws and approach situations requiring a predictable fade. This disc sits between straight workhorses and noticeably overstable utility discs—comparable to a Roc or Buzzz but with a bit more glide and a gentler landing phase. In Gold Line and Opto plastics, it shines particularly on throws under 90 meters, while Zero Hard serves as a grippy base plastic for challenging conditions. In flight, the Mace combines its flight numbers—Speed 5, Glide 5, Turn 0, and Fade 2—into a stable yet not overly aggressive trajectory. The high glide keeps the disc in the air longer than many classic overstable midranges, while the moderate fade ensures controlled finish. On straight lines, it remains neutral to slightly stable without pulling left prematurely. With a hyzer release, the fade becomes more pronounced, making it useful for doglegs and obstacle navigation. The Turn 0 keeps the disc on course even at higher arm speeds, though it may drift slightly right under full power before the fade kicks in. The deep profile with a pronounced bead polarizes grip preferences but ensures a clean release for backhand throws. For beginners, the Mace works as a stable all-rounder, enabling straight lines without unwanted turn. Advanced players rely on it as a dependable distance midrange for throws up to 100 meters where precision outweighs maximum distance. For forehand throws, it delivers clean hyzer lines with a predictable finish, while backhand players use it for gentle anhyzers with reliable fade. The Gold Line version is known for durability and grip, while Opto offers extra resilience for rocky courses.
