Starfire
The Innova Starfire fills the gap between maximum distance and precise control in the distance driver category. As an overstable 10-speed disc with a pronounced fade, it excels in powerful throws during windy conditions and situations demanding reliable stability. The Star and Champion versions offer exceptional consistency, while Pro plastic provides slightly more flexibility. For players with intermediate to advanced arm speed, it serves as a dependable workhorse driver, delivering solid distances without uncontrolled drift. In flight, the disc maintains a straight trajectory with minimal turn before a strong fade kicks in at the end. With a speed of 10 and glide of 4, it achieves impressive distances without excessive effort, while the combination of 0 turn and 3 fade ensures predictable landing zones. Its stability leans overstable without becoming an extreme meathook—at arm speeds around 100 meters, it remains controllable and finishes with a smooth yet decisive left fade. Higher speeds yield more straight flight before the fade engages. Compared to the Thunderbird, it offers more speed while maintaining similar reliability. For forehand throws, the Starfire truly shines—its stability prevents early turnovers and allows for powerful releases with a clean finish. On backhand, hyzer lines are dependable, while slight anhyzers transition into controlled S-curves when thrown with sufficient power. Advanced players will appreciate it as a precise distance driver for technical fairways, while intermediate throwers benefit from its forgiveness at moderate speeds. Beginners may prefer slower discs, as the stability can lead to early fade at lower arm speeds. In headwinds, the flight remains stable and predictable.
