The Innova "Roc" is a classic midrange in disc golf, serving as a versatile workhorse for approach shots and controlled lines in the mid-distance range. With a speed of 4, it bridges the gap between putters and faster fairway discs, making it ideal for throws where precision matters more than maximum distance. The distinctive bead on the inner rim provides a unique grip and promotes a clean release. In DX plastic, the disc breaks in quickly, while KC Pro and Star plastics retain their original characteristics much longer, appealing to players who value consistency over many rounds. In flight, the "Roc" exhibits overstable traits: a glide of 4 keeps it reliably on its intended line, while a turn of 0 and fade of 3 ensure a predictable finish. Fresh out of the box, it resists turnover tendencies and lands with a strong left fade on backhand throws. As it wears in—especially in DX plastic—it develops more straight flight and becomes more accessible for moderate arm speeds. In more durable plastics, the overstable nature persists longer, allowing stronger throwers to execute reliable hyzer lines even in windy conditions. For beginners, the "Roc" can be challenging when new, as it consistently pulls left and demands solid technique. Advanced and experienced players appreciate it as a point-and-shoot option for approach situations where a dependable fade is desired. Forehand throws benefit from its stability on flat releases, while backhand players use it for controlled hyzers and flex shots. Seasoned-in versions expand its versatility, enabling straight-line flights for throwers with moderate arm speed.
