Overstable

The "Monster" from Innova is one of the most uncompromising overstable distance drivers, designed for advanced players with high arm speed. With a speed of 10, it sits just below max-distance discs but delivers extreme flight stability for wind and utility shots, featuring 0 turn and 5 fade. Built as a meathook, it handles situations where other overstable discs like the Firebird or Orc fall short—such as strong headwinds or when aggressive hyzer lines with a hard finish are needed. Beginners should avoid this disc, as it becomes nearly uncontrollable without sufficient power and immediately veers left. In flight, the Monster demonstrates extreme torque resistance—actively resisting turnover and maintaining a stable trajectory even at full power. The low glide rating of 3 means less hang time but more penetration in windy conditions. The strong fade ensures a reliable, hard finish—ideal for spike hyzers or when the disc needs to drop quickly after an obstacle. Available in Star and Champion plastic, it retains its stability over time, while its flat profile and handling resemble discs like the Orc but with significantly more overstable characteristics. Forehand players appreciate the Monster for long, reliable throws with controlled fade, while backhand throwers find it ideal for forced hyzers. It also performs well for thumbers, tomahawks, and forehand rollers in tricky situations. If you need to curve around trees or fight back to the fairway from the rough, this disc is a precise tool. However, it demands advanced to pro-level technique—without enough arm speed, distance remains limited, and the fade dominates the entire flight.
