Stability
Overstable

The Innova "Lion" is a versatile midrange with a speed of 5, glide of 4, turn of 0, and fade of 2, balancing straight control and reliable fade. As part of the VTech series, it features a bead on the inner rim for a defined grip and allows a slight flip tendency on flat throws before the moderate fade kicks in. This combination makes it ideal for precise fairway shots at medium distances where neither extreme stability nor unpredictable turnover is needed. Star and Champion plastics offer different flight characteristics: while Champion provides more resistance to torque, Star plastic exhibits earlier turn behavior, especially on powerful throws or slight anhyzers. In flight, the "Lion" delivers a balanced performance that feels less overstable than its numbers suggest. When thrown flat, it develops a gentle S-curve with controlled mid-flight turn and reliable fade at the end—perfect for shots that shouldn’t dump early or flip uncontrollably. With higher arm speed or intentional anhyzer, it responds with more pronounced turnover, enabling flexible lines through wooded areas or around obstacles. The fade remains predictable without a harsh hook, ensuring controlled landings even in wind. Compared to a RocX3, it’s less aggressively overstable, while offering more fade and wind resistance than a Mako3. On hyzer lines, the "Lion" maintains its angle and pushes forward steadily, while on anhyzer throws, it holds longer turnover paths without fading back too soon. For forehand throws, the bead provides a secure release point, though the disc shows slightly more stability than on backhand. Intermediate players appreciate its blend of forgiveness and workability, while advanced players can fine-tune angles and power. It’s also accessible for ambitious beginners, provided they have enough arm speed to utilize the glide without inducing unwanted turn.
