The "Jay" by Innova Champion Discs fills the gap for a reliably straight midrange with minimal fade. With a speed of 5, it’s ideal for controlled fairway approaches and precise lines through tight gaps where neither strong fade nor unpredictable turn is desired. Especially in Champion and Star plastics, it demonstrates consistent flight characteristics that remain stable even at higher arm speeds. The disc reaches distances around 90 meters and serves as an alternative to the Mako3 when a slightly more stable flight path is needed. In the air, the "Jay" maintains a neutral trajectory with minimal lateral drift. The listed turn of 0 and fade of 1 accurately reflect its flight behavior—the disc stays on a straight line without flipping into a turnover and finishes with only a gentle fade to the left. Glide is moderate, enhancing control in the wind while avoiding excessive float. Champion plastic with a medium dome offers slightly more grip than expected, while Star versions in lighter weights fly cleanly with less power. The overstable baseline prevents unwanted torque and keeps the disc predictable. For hyzer throws, the "Jay" delivers a smooth curve without a harsh finish, and on anhyzer, it remains controlled and reliably flexes back. Forehand players benefit from its stable flight plate, which resists flipping even on flat releases. The disc is suitable for beginners looking for a straight midrange without surprises but also appeals to advanced players when precise placement shots are required. Tunnel shots and approaches between 60 and 90 meters are among its strengths.
