Gator
The Innova "Gator" is an overstable midrange disc designed for precise approach shots and throws in strong winds. With a speed of 5, glide of 2, turn of 0, and fade of 3, it delivers controlled distances without unexpected flight phases. Its flat, partially concave profile and pronounced inner rim bead provide a blocky grip, ensuring secure releases for both forehand and backhand throws. As a utility disc, the "Gator" covers situations where a Roc3 lacks sufficient stability—such as tomahawk throws, tight tunnel shots, or approaches where the disc needs to land exactly where it's thrown. In flight, the disc exhibits minimal glide and a reliable dump at the end. The "Gator" won’t flip, even in headwinds or with high arm speed. The combination of low glide and strong fade makes it ideal for distance control between 60 to 90 meters, with minimal roll after landing. Available in Star, DX, and Metal Flake Champion plastics, each version affects grip and durability while maintaining core stability. DX offers more tack for wet conditions, while Star and Champion retain flight characteristics longer. Advanced players will find the "Gator" a reliable choice for hyzer approaches, scramble situations, and throws under trees where every meter counts. Intermediate players can use it strategically when precision matters more than maximum distance. Beginners should note that its overstability may result in shorter flights with lower arm speed. The "Gator" isn’t a replacement for a neutral midrange but serves as a specialist for challenging positions and windy days.
