Dragon
The Innova "Dragon" is specifically designed for beginners and casual players seeking a forgiving fairway option. Its floating ability makes it especially suitable for courses near water, where lost discs would otherwise be a problem. The compact rim and shallow depth ensure a secure grip, even for smaller hands. The DX plastic version offers a tacky and accessible feel, while Champion variants provide slightly more durability. As an all-rounder for moderate distances between 60 and 80 meters, it covers typical fairway situations without requiring excessive arm speed. In flight, the "Dragon" develops a gentle S-curve, resulting from its Speed 8, Glide 5, Turn -2, and Fade 2 ratings. The noticeable turn kicks in early, allowing controlled drift to the right (for right-handed backhand throws) even with moderate power. The glide keeps the disc airborne longer before the moderate fade ensures a smooth return to the left. This understable characteristic makes it forgiving of off-axis torque and helps beginners achieve successful throws without technical perfection. With stronger arms, it tends to overturn excessively, making it more suitable for advanced players as a roller or utility disc. In practice, the "Dragon" performs reliably on slight hyzer lines that transition to straight flights, as well as on flat releases with controlled drift. For forehand throws, it offers a stable option with moderate power, while excelling in backhand for beginners still working on consistency. The floating feature provides confidence on water holes, making it an ideal companion for casual rounds. Beginners benefit from its error tolerance and low power requirement, while experienced players appreciate it for specific situations or as a loaner disc.
