The "Destroyer" by Innova is one of the best-selling distance drivers worldwide, covering the spectrum from controlled max-distance throws to reliable headwind shots. With its overstable nature, it excels on open fairways and in demanding wind conditions where other high-speed drivers might turn uncontrollably. Star and Champion plastics dominate its use, with Star versions prized for their grippy feel and Champion runs for their firmer, more durable characteristics. GStar offers added flexibility in cooler temperatures. The wide availability of different runs allows players to choose based on desired stability—from fresh, highly overstable discs to seasoned ones with more turnover potential. In flight, the "Destroyer" exhibits a trajectory with initial resistance to turn, followed by steady glide and a dependable fade at the finish. Fresh discs start out highly overstable and develop slight high-speed turn at higher arm speeds before the strong fade kicks in. As the disc beats in, more mid-flight turn develops while the fade remains intact, making it more versatile for shaping lines. The pronounced glide carries the disc far even with moderate fade, unlocking extra distance on less-than-perfect releases. Splatter Star runs are noted for their stiffer plastic and higher flight paths. When thrown on hyzer angles, the "Destroyer" delivers penetrating lines with a predictable finish, while flat releases at sufficient arm speed allow controlled S-curves. Forehand throws benefit from its stability against unwanted turnover, and backhand players rely on it for max distance with a secure fade-out. Advanced and experienced players will find the "Destroyer" a dependable workhorse driver for 120 to 150 meters, while pros strategically bag different runs for specific slots. Beginners, however, may find it challenging due to the required arm speed.
