Colossus
The "Colossus" by Innova is a Distance Driver with Speed 14, designed for experienced throwers with high arm speed. The wide rim demands a secure grip technique and sufficient power to unlock the disc's full potential. Players with smaller hands may find the grip less comfortable. It excels in maximum-distance throws, with the GStar variant particularly establishing itself as a reliable bomber in the bag. Champion plastic provides added stability, while GStar offers more flexibility in windy conditions. In flight, the disc exhibits an overstable behavior, defined by its flight ratings of Speed 14, Glide 5, Turn -2, and Fade 3. The listed -2 Turn only manifests with sufficient throwing power—with less force, the flight remains noticeably straighter and more stable. The strong Fade at the end ensures a reliable finish to the left. In practice, the disc behaves more beefy than the numbers suggest, making it especially suited for headwinds and powerful throws. The lack of "zip" compared to other Speed 13 models is noticeable, requiring a clean release and full acceleration. On hyzer lines, the "Colossus" delivers stable results with controlled fade, while anhyzer throws only truly flex with high arm speed. Backhand throws benefit from its predictability, whereas forehand throws demand precise technique due to the wide rim. This disc is clearly aimed at advanced to experienced players who are already familiar with high-speed drivers and seek targeted distance in windy conditions. Beginners will find it too demanding, as without sufficient throwing speed, neither the Turn nor Glide will come into play.
