Alien
The Innova "Alien" is a versatile midrange disc with an unusual profile and broad application. With a speed of 4 and low glide of 2, it works well as a controlled approach disc or as a throwing putter for precise short to mid-range shots. In DX plastic, it offers moderate stability, while the Star version allows for slightly straighter lines. The beadless design ensures a clean release and comfortable grip, which is particularly useful for approach shots. Unlike typical glide-focused midranges, the "Alien" drops predictably without excessive hangtime—ideal for windy conditions or tight fairways. In flight, the disc behaves remarkably straight with a turn of 0 and fade of 1. The minimal fade at the end ensures predictable landings without sharp hooks. In DX plastic, it can be overpowered more easily, developing moderate turnover tendencies, while Star versions maintain consistent stability across different weights. The low glide rating means less float but more control for targeted approaches. Even with varying weights between 172 and 180 grams, the flight characteristics remain reliably consistent. For forehand approach shots, the "Alien" excels: its flat trajectory and gentle fade make it a precise weapon for tight lines between 30 and 60 meters. As a throwing putter, it impresses with its grippy feel and straight flight. Beginners benefit from its forgiving nature and controlled characteristics, while advanced players can use it strategically for technical shots. The unconventional shape may seem odd at first, but in play, it proves to be a well-designed tool for situational precision throws.
