Understable

The "Magic" by Gateway Disc Sports is an understable putter designed for straight approaches and controlled turnover lines. With a speed of 2 and glide of 3, it excels at shorter distances within 60 meters where precise flight paths are needed. This disc serves as a versatile tool for approach shots that require a right-turning fade (for right-handed backhand throws) and also works as a putting option for players who prefer slight turnover movements. Available in popular plastic blends like Super Soft, Super Stupid Soft, and Eraser, it offers exceptional grip and a soft feel that boosts confidence on the putting green. In flight, the "Magic" exhibits a straight to slightly right-turning path at moderate throwing speeds. The -1 turn activates even at medium arm speed, while the 0 fade ensures gentle landings without late hooks. This combination creates controllable anhyzer lines, making it ideal for navigating approaches around obstacles. The disc holds flat release angles steadily without veering unpredictably. On hyzer releases, it corrects smoothly and lands with minimal lateral movement. The moderate glide provides predictable flight distances without excessive float, which is especially useful for precise approach shots. For beginners, the "Magic" is an excellent introduction to understable putters, as it delivers controlled turnovers even with less throwing power. Advanced players use it strategically for anhyzer approaches and situations requiring straight lines with a slight rightward finish. It pairs well with more stable putters like the "Wizard" or "Voodoo" from Gateway’s lineup, covering shots where traditional neutral putters would be too overstable. However, in windy conditions, it loses reliability and should be swapped for more stable alternatives.
