The "Blade" by Gateway Disc Sports fills the role of an overstable fairway driver with a speed of 9, combining controlled distance with reliable fade. Serving as an alternative to established models like the Firebird, Raptor, or Felon, it offers its own unique characteristics, ranging from moderate to pronounced overstability depending on plastic choice and throwing technique. Particularly in Hyper Diamond plastic, the disc showcases maximum stability, making it ideal for powerful throws into the wind or precise utility shots. In Diamond plastic, the flight becomes slightly more accessible while retaining its fundamental reliability. For players seeking a faster Eagle or a Thunderbird with more stability, the "Blade" presents an intriguing option in the speed-9 category. In flight, the disc exhibits a stable phase with moderate glide before the fade kicks in around 40 to 50 meters. Unlike pure utility discs with extreme overstable traits, the "Blade" can also be used for longer, controlled lines. When thrown on hyzer, it holds its path reliably and lands with predictable fade, while anhyzer releases—depending on arm speed—can transition into a straight line with late finish. The disc responds to powerful throws with a stable flight path and offers enough resistance to prevent unwanted turn, even in headwinds. Compared to classic Firebirds, it sometimes provides slightly more straight flight before the fade takes over. For forehand throws, the "Blade" delivers a solid foundation for precise shots thanks to its stability and comfortable grip. On backhand, advanced throwers benefit from the ability to unleash full power without fearing turnover. Intermediate players will find it a reliable companion for headwind situations and controlled fairway shots, while beginners should first familiarize themselves with the required arm speed. The "Blade" caters to players looking for a versatile, overstable fairway driver with a distinct personality.
