Interceptor
The "Interceptor" from Elevation Disc Golf operates in the midrange category with an unconventional material philosophy. Its distinctive soft, flexible ecoFLOP plastic sets it apart from conventional midranges, making it a specialty disc for approach shots and controlled approaches in the 50 to 80-meter range. Unlike classic Speed 5 discs, it sacrifices maximum distance for precise landings—especially on hard surfaces, it barely rolls after touching down. For players who adapt to its forgiving grip, it becomes a reliable tool for technical throws around the basket. In flight, the "Interceptor" shows significantly more stability than its flight numbers (Speed 5, Glide 4, Turn -1, Fade 2) suggest. The flexible material noticeably dampens glide—instead of extended float, it delivers controlled, direct flight. The fade is stronger than indicated, closer to 3, making it particularly predictable in moderate headwinds. The combination of reduced glide and stronger fade creates a flat, predictable path without major altitude fluctuations. The soft plastic demands clean throwing mechanics: poor nose angle control is amplified by the flexibility, while precise releases are rewarded with stable flight. For backhand throws, it works well for straight approaches with a reliable left finish. Hyzer throws enhance the fade further, while slight anhyzer releases allow intermediate players to execute controlled S-curves. On forehand shots, it benefits from its overstability on short approach shots. Beginners will find the "Interceptor" a forgiving option for sub-60-meter approaches once they adjust to the flexible material. Advanced players value it as a utility disc for situations where roll must be avoided—such as on slopes or hard landing zones.
