Blackout
The "Blackout" by Doomsday Discs serves as a versatile fairway driver in the speed-8 category, specifically designed for beginners and intermediate players. With its understable characteristics, it excels in controlled distance throws and straight flight paths without requiring high arm speeds. This disc shines where moderate power meets reliable straight flights—a combination that stands out particularly in the Radioactive Waste, Toxic Waste, and Biohazard plastic blends. Compared to other 8-speed drivers with similar flight ratings, the "Blackout" exhibits a slightly gentler fade phase, promoting longer, flatter landings. In flight, the "Blackout" develops a moderate -2 turn that unfolds smoothly at medium throwing speeds, guiding the disc into a gentle S-curve or a sustained straight line. A glide of 5 ensures noticeably extended flight phases, while the fade of 1 results in only a slight leftward pull at the end. Stability varies slightly between plastics: Radioactive Waste behaves a bit more stable, holding straighter longer, while Toxic Waste stays closer to the manufacturer's ratings and transitions into turn earlier. Biohazard plastic also adheres closely to the flight numbers while offering a grippy surface without distracting edges. For hyzer flips, the "Blackout" delivers reliable results—a slight hyzer angle at release leads to a controlled flip-up followed by a straight flight. Turnover lines can also be executed precisely without the disc turning uncontrollably. Backhand throws benefit from the combination of glide and moderate turn, while forehand players achieve stable flight paths with a flat release. Beginners quickly gain distance and confidence, while intermediate players use the "Blackout" for targeted fairway shots and turnover lines in wooded or open courses.
