Overstable

The "Wyrm" by Divergent Discs fills the role of an extremely overstable utility disc in your bag, designed for controlled approach shots and spike hyzer lines. With a speed of 8, it operates in the lower fairway range, but its unusually low glide of 1 combined with a fade of 4 makes it a specialized problem-solver for situations demanding maximum fade reliability. Unlike classic fairway drivers such as the Teebird or Raptor, the Wyrm deliberately sacrifices distance potential in favor of absolute predictability on approaches under 60 meters. The StayPut plastic dominates its use, emphasizing grip-focused control for technical throws. In flight, the Wyrm shows minimal hangtime, dropping hard left after a brief, straight flight. The extreme fade kicks in early, leaving little room for unwanted turns—ideal for greens behind obstacles or steep landings on elevated baskets. A turn rating of 1 means practically no rightward movement, even on powerful releases, allowing aggressive hyzer angles to hold cleanly. The low glide prevents overshooting the target, a crucial trait for approach discs. On flat lines, the Wyrm fights its nature and isn’t suited for straight distance throws. Advanced players with clean releases use the Wyrm for precise spike hyzers, where the disc lands nearly vertical and stops instantly. For forehand throws, it offers reliable fade without the risk of late turnovers, while backhand players favor it for extreme hyzer angles. Beginners will struggle to achieve the necessary throw speed for controlled flight phases—this disc is clearly recommended for experienced throwers looking to fill specific utility gaps. As an approach disc, it replaces classic overmolds like the Tilt in less extreme scenarios.
