The "Xpress" by Discraft is a versatile fairway driver ideal for beginners and players with moderate arm speed. With a speed rating of 8, it bridges the gap between midrange discs and faster distance drivers, allowing for controlled distance throws without excessive effort. Since its PDGA approval in 2000, it has become a reliable choice for players seeking predictable understable flight paths. The X Line and Z Line versions, in particular, deliver consistent flight characteristics, with the X variant offering excellent grip in various weather conditions. In flight, the Xpress exhibits a noticeable right turn (-3 turn) that activates even at moderate throwing speeds. Its high glide rating of 5 ensures extended flight time, maximizing distance even on less powerful throws. A moderate fade of 1 at the end gently stabilizes the flight without overpowering the turnover tendency. This combination creates long, sweeping flight paths perfect for wide fairway shots. In lighter plastics like Pro D, the understable nature becomes more pronounced, while Z Line provides better resistance to early turnovers. On the course, the Xpress excels for anhyzer shots that hold right throughout their flight. Hyzer flips come effortlessly, turning into long, straight lines with a gentle right drift. For advanced players with higher arm speeds, it works well as a roller disc or for extreme turnover shots. Backhand players benefit from its predictable turn, while forehand throws allow for precise anhyzer shots. Beginners will find the Xpress an excellent introduction to faster discs, as it forgives technical flaws while still achieving respectable distance. Comparable to Innova’s Sidewinder, it offers similar flight characteristics within Discraft’s lineup.
