The Discraft "Wasp" is an overstable midrange with a bead, designed for controlled lines in windy conditions and precise approach shots in mid-range distances. With a speed of 5 and moderate glide of 3, it's ideal when a Buzzz shows too much turn or when headwind demands reliable stability. The bead on the inner rim ensures defined hand contact and supports clean releases for both forehand and backhand throws. Available in Z Line and Cryztal Sparkle, this disc delivers consistent flight characteristics over many rounds. In flight, the Wasp exhibits a straight phase on backhand with controlled fade at the end—typically covering 60 to 80 meters at medium arm speed. Its turn 0 and fade 2 accurately describe its behavior: the disc holds the release line without unwanted drift and reliably finishes left. On forehand, it resists torque and lands flat, making it great for direct approaches to elevated baskets or tight window shots. With a strong throw, it shows slight glide without becoming uncontrollably flippy—a balance that sets it apart from more aggressive utility midranges like the Gator. Compared to a Roc3, the Wasp offers similar stability with slightly better forehand comfort due to the bead. For intermediate players, the Wasp serves as a reliable option against wind and for hyzer lines that need predictable fade. Advanced players use it strategically for flex shots with anhyzer releases, where the disc smoothly transitions forward after a brief S-turn. Beginners with a solid release can benefit from its stability for their first overstable midrange throws, but should have sufficient arm speed to activate the glide. As a complement to straight or slightly understable midranges, the Wasp covers the high-stability spectrum without slipping into extreme utility roles.
