The "Talon" by Discraft returns as a classic overstable fairway driver, designed primarily for experienced players who need maximum control and reliable fade at speed 8. With low glide and a pronounced finish, it excels in precise fairway shots where skip action is desired and the disc won’t drift uncontrollably in headwinds. The current runs in Z Sparkle Glo, Tour Series Z, and Big Z blend appealing aesthetics with solid durability, though Big Z tends to show slightly less overstability compared to the stiffer Z variants. In flight, the "Talon" follows a straight, flat path with minimal turn and a strong fade at the end. The speed of 8 allows for controlled throws at mid-range distances, while the low glide rating of 3 ensures the disc works downward quickly without uncontrolled float. The fade of 3 kicks in reliably, producing a sharp left hook ideal for precise landings and skip shots. In Big Z plastic, the disc behaves slightly more moderately, permitting gentle flip-up lines, while stiffer Z variants remain uncompromisingly overstable and resist flipping even on powerful throws. For hyzer lines and controlled dogleg shots, the "Talon" delivers dependable results, especially when navigating obstacles to the left or battling headwinds. It also stays stable on forehand throws but won’t forgive sloppy throwing mechanics. Advanced and skilled players value this disc for technical fairways where precision outweighs maximum distance. Beginners, however, may find the "Talon" less suitable due to its high overstability—without sufficient arm speed, it pulls left quickly and struggles to gain distance.
