Nuke SS
The "Nuke SS" from Discraft is designed for players with sufficient arm speed who are looking for a distance driver with significant turnover potential. With a speed of 13 and glide of 5, it covers long distances, while a turn of -3 and fade of 3 create pronounced S-curves. Compared to classic bombers like the Katana or Avenger SS, it exhibits similar flight characteristics at moderate to high throwing power but with a stronger fade at the end. The wide rim may not feel comfortable for every thrower, yet its flight performance impresses with high range and versatile applications. In flight, the Nuke SS develops noticeable rightward turn even at moderate arm speed, which can turn into cut-rolls or unpredictable lines if overpowered. Hyzer flips work cleanly when power is controlled—the disc flips from a hyzer angle into a long, flat trajectory and reliably finishes with its pronounced fade. It also works well for rollers, though its sensitivity to power makes it demanding. Differences between plastic types and individual discs are noticeable: Z Line and ESP can show varying stability, which may affect consistency in the bag. Advanced players with controlled technique benefit from the combination of speed and turn for long anhyzer lines or hyzer flips on open fairways. Beginners quickly hit limits, as the disc won’t achieve its advertised flight path with insufficient spin and becomes hard to predict when overpowered. Those looking for a seasoned Nuke without lengthy break-in will find a suitable alternative here—though the Nuke SS demands precise power control and experience to reliably unlock its distance potential.
