Fossil
The "Fossil" by Discraft is an overstable putter with extreme fade and minimal glide. With a speed of 3, the disc remains controllable on short distances, while its fade of 3 and low glide of 1 ensure steep landings. This combination makes it ideal for approach shots where precision outweighs distance, as well as for windy conditions. A turn of 0 guarantees the disc won't unintentionally turn over, even in headwinds. In flight, the "Fossil" exhibits an uncompromisingly stable trajectory. The low glide causes it to lose altitude quickly after release, with almost no float. A speed of 3 allows for moderate throwing velocity, while a turn of 0 eliminates any tendency to turnover. The pronounced fade of 3 kicks in early, reliably pulling the disc left (for right-handed backhand throws). This flight characteristic makes it especially suitable for short, predictable lines where the disc needs to drop fast. On hyzer lines, the natural fade intensifies further, enabling steep approaches to elevated baskets or shots over obstacles. Anhyzer throws struggle against the overstability but still finish with a reliable fade. Forehand players benefit from the stability on approach shots, while backhand throws fully utilize the fade effect. For intermediate to advanced players, the "Fossil" serves as a reliable tool for windy conditions and situations where long skids are undesirable. The disc demands precise aiming, as it offers little forgiveness.
