Cigarra
The Discraft "Cigarra" fills the gap in the 7-speed segment as a versatile fairway driver for controlled distance throws and precise lines. With its slightly overstable baseline flight, it's ideal for fairway drives between 80 and 100 meters where reliability matters more than maximum distance. The flat ESP plastic top sits comfortably in hand and promotes clean releases. As Anthony Barela's signature disc, it slots between the straighter "Cicada" and significantly more overstable models—a balanced choice that works for both wooded fairways and open courses. In flight, the pronounced 6 glide stands out as a defining feature: the disc maintains altitude longer than typical 7-speed drivers, offering more room for mid-flight adjustments. The moderate -1 turn allows for subtle right movement when cleanly released, while the 2 fade ensures a controlled finish. This combination enables both straight tunnel shots and gentle S-curves. The stability remains predictable even with strong arm speed—the disc won't flip uncontrollably, even when thrown with full power. Compared to the Innova Eagle, it offers similar flight characteristics with slightly more dome and extra glide. For intermediate players, the "Cigarra" serves as a reliable workhorse fairway that forgives both forehand and backhand throws. Advanced players use it for precise line shaping and controlled hyzer lines, while beginners with developing technique benefit from its error tolerance. Z Line and ESP plastics offer different wear patterns: ESP starts grippier and develops more turn over time, while Z Line maintains stability longer. As an all-around fairway, it covers everything from straight approaches to shapeable drives.
