Mentor
The "Mentor" by Discmania is a Speed 11 distance driver that sits between controlled turnover lines and stable throws. With a glide of 5, it stays airborne for a long time, offering intermediate players and ambitious beginners access to greater distances. This disc is ideal for fairway drives requiring moderate turn characteristics without sacrificing control. Two different plastic versions—Active Baseline and Active Premium—show distinct flight behaviors: the Baseline variant feels grippier and tends to be more understable, while the Premium version offers more resistance to turn. In flight, the "Mentor" exhibits a noticeable right drift for right-handed backhand throws with its -2 turn, which remains manageable with a clean release. A fade of 2 ensures a reliable finish without pulling too hard to the left. At moderate arm speed, it develops a gentle S-curve, while stronger throws activate the turn more prominently. In tailwind, the right drift intensifies, so the "Mentor" should be thrown with slight hyzer. Headwind dampens the turn, keeping the flight straighter. Stability sits on the borderline between neutral and slightly overstable, with the plastic type making the decisive difference. For intermediate players, the "Mentor" strikes a good balance between distance potential and controllability. It performs well on straight lines as well as slight turnover shots without veering off unpredictably. Backhand throws benefit from its high glide, while forehand throws remain predictable thanks to the moderate fade. Beginners with some experience can use this disc to increase their distance but should have solid release technique. Compared to the MVP Wave, the "Mentor" offers slightly more control, while it behaves more directly than the Discraft Scorch.
