The Duke
"The Duke" by Disc Golf UK is an overstable midrange with a speed of 5.5 and pronounced fade, making it ideal for controlled throws in windy conditions and forced anhyzer lines. With a glide of 4, the disc provides sufficient lift, while a turn of 0 and fade of 3.5 ensure a reliably left-turning flight path. As a midrange with increased stability, it covers situations where standard neutral or slightly overstable midranges exhibit too much drift. In flight, "The Duke" maintains its angle consistently and resists crosswinds effectively. The lack of turn prevents uncontrolled rightward drift, even with a powerful throw. The fade kicks in early and pulls the disc sharply left, enabling predictable finishes at short to medium distances. The combination of moderate speed and high stability allows for precise throws without excessive power, while the disc also offers enough resistance to remain stable in headwinds. For hyzer throws, the disc proves particularly reliable, maintaining its angle all the way to the ground. Flat releases result in a straight flight phase followed by a pronounced left hook. Anhyzer lines can be forced but quickly return to a hyzer angle. Forehand throws benefit from its torque resistance, delivering controlled flex shots. Recommended for skill level 0 and up, "The Duke" is also accessible to beginners looking for a dependable overstable midrange for approach shots and windy conditions.
