Vigil
The Crosslap "Vigil" is an understable fairway driver with a speed of 8, specifically designed for beginners and players with moderate arm speed. Its high glide rating of 6 helps extend flight time even with lower throwing power, while the combination of -2 turn and 2 fade ensures controlled distance throws. As a fairway driver, it bridges the gap between midranges and faster distance drivers, making it ideal for straight fairway shots and early attempts at distance throws. Available in Crosslap Advanced, Crosslap Platinum, and Maximum plastics, it offers varying levels of grip and durability. In flight, the "Vigil" exhibits clear understable behavior, turning right early for right-handed backhand throws. The pronounced glide noticeably extends the flight phase before the moderate fade gently brings the disc back at the end. With higher arm speed, the turn becomes much more pronounced—the disc quickly flips into a turnover and holds that line until landing. For players with less power, the flight remains straighter with a slight right drift, while advanced players with strong arms may only use the "Vigil" for extreme turnover lines or rollers. Its stability is significantly lower than the manufacturer's ratings, making it unsuitable for powerful throws. For beginners, the "Vigil" serves as a great introduction to distance throws, as it generates good distance even with moderate technique and offers forgiveness. Players with throw distances up to around 90 meters will experience controllable, straight to slightly right-turning flights. At higher arm speeds, the disc becomes difficult to control and may flip uncontrollably—experienced throwers typically reserve it for specialized turnover shots or rollers. Backhand throws benefit from the high glide, while forehand throws require precise release angles due to the extreme understability. It works well as a learning disc for new players but quickly loses relevance in the bag as skills improve.
