The "Sage" by Clash Discs is an overstable distance driver with flight ratings of 12/6/-1/3, positioning itself in the segment of reliable high-speed discs for powerful throws. Its pronounced stability makes it particularly suited for situations demanding control at high speeds. The disc is primarily available in Steady and Steady Ring plastic, with earlier Sparkle Steady versions featuring an exceptionally flat top and a pronounced inner rim bead. This design creates a distinct hand feel that wins users over after a short adjustment period. In flight, the "Sage" exhibits significantly more overstability than its ratings suggest. While the nominal -1 turn and 3 fade imply a moderately stable character, the disc behaves much more resistant to turnovers in practice, resembling the flight path of established overstable distance drivers. The advertised glide of 6 comes into play with powerful throws but requires sufficient arm speed to reach its optimal flight phase. The fade kicks in reliably and forcefully, enabling precise landings even in windy conditions. For hyzer throws and flex shots, the "Sage" offers excellent control, while its stability makes it equally impressive for forehand throws. The disc is less forgiving of technical errors than neutral drivers and demands clean release mechanics. Intermediate players with adequate arm speed will find this disc a dependable workhorse for powerful, controlled distance throws. Beginners should initially opt for slower discs, as the "Sage" only unlocks its full potential with sufficient throwing power. As an alternative to classic overstable distance drivers, this disc quickly earns its place in the bags of experienced throwers.
