The Axiom Discs "Tantrum" is a maximum distance driver with a speed of 14, positioning itself as more versatile than many overstable competitors in the long-range disc category. With flight ratings of 5 glide, -1.5 turn, and 3 fade, this driver delivers a combination of impressive distance and controlled finish. The "Tantrum" bridges the gap between pure overhand bombers and controllable distance drivers, establishing itself—especially in Neutron plastic—as a reliable max-distance thrower for powerful arms. The 2.5-centimeter rim maximizes PDGA width limits, enabling distances of 400 to over 460 meters when thrown with sufficient speed. In flight, the "Tantrum" exhibits a characteristic high-speed turn, producing a noticeably longer S-curve on flat releases compared to typical overstable 14-speed drivers. The initial turn phase develops smoothly, transitioning into a reliable fade without braking too early. The pronounced 5 glide significantly extends the flight phase, contributing to overall distance. Compared to discs like the Destroyer or Outlaw, the "Tantrum" offers less overstability at a similar speed class, making it a true distance weapon on long, open fairways. The Neutron plastic provides the best balance of grip and durability. The "Tantrum" is primarily aimed at advanced throwers with arm speeds capable of reaching 400 meters, seeking a distance driver that doesn’t immediately fade left. It’s ideal for long, straight drives with controlled S-curves. Intermediate players can benefit from this disc on open courses but should have enough arm speed to activate the turn. In headwinds, the "Tantrum" remains stable and fights through the wind, while in tailwinds, it achieves full distance potential. It also performs reliably for forehand throws when sufficient power is applied.
