Overstable

The "Pyro" by Axiom Discs positions itself as an overstable midrange for precise flight control and reliable fade behavior. With a speed of 5 and a fade of 2.5, it bridges the gap between standard midranges and true utility discs. Particularly the Prism variants in Proton, Neutron, and Plasma are highly popular, with the Prism Plasma tending to exhibit even more pronounced overstability. The "Pyro" is ideal for controlled approaches, left-turning doglegs, and situations where dependable fade is crucial. The flight path shows strong torque resistance, maintaining the intended line through the first half of the flight before the distinct fade kicks in. While the manufacturer rates it with a turn of 0 and fade of 2.5, in practice, the disc often feels even more overstable—comparable to significantly more aggressive midranges. When thrown with power, it develops a straight, slightly left-pulling trajectory similar to a fairway driver. The glide of 4 provides ample distance without making the disc uncontrollable. Hyzer throws amplify the fade, while anhyzer releases reliably bring it back. The "Pyro" performs exceptionally well for both backhand and forehand throws, delivering consistent behavior with either technique. Intermediate players appreciate its reliability in the wind and the ability to execute controlled fades even with moderate arm speed. Advanced players use it for technical lines around obstacles and tunnel shots with a guaranteed left finish. For beginners, the overstability proves challenging—the disc hardly forgives angle mistakes and requires sufficient power for optimal flight performance. As a workhorse midrange for demanding conditions and precise placement, the "Pyro" excels with absolute predictability.
